Get The Look: Matthew Williamson for H&M

The newest member of the high/low fashion collaboration trend is Matthew Williamson for H&M. Williamson is known for bold, flashy prints and bright colors as well as a long list of celebrity devotees like Sienna Miller, Keira Knightley, and Kate Hudson. Williamson's collection for H&M is due to arrive in stores at any moment and was kicked off earlier this week by the official launch fashion show.

While the clothes were clearly the stars, collaboration between the designer and the hair and makeup teams created a unique and fresh look to complement the bold designs. Hair was styled using Aveda products as directed by head stylist Kurt Lowry.

Inspiration for the design was guided by Williamson who "wanted a modern, fresh style that's easy and youthful yet elegant. This look is sleek at the roots with textured, slightly undone ends -- very nighttime-at-the-beach. The result complements the bold summer look of his H&M collection."

I adore this hair look and think that it works perfectly with the clothes. The style also seems do-able for shoulder-length locks as well as long tresses. To get this undone, unfussy look for yourself, follow Lowry's step-by-step guide after the jump.

Step One: Draw a clean side part. Use a straightening iron from the roots to the top of the ear so that hair is smooth against the head.

Step Two: Create a visual divider between the upper and lower sections of hair as products and styling will be different above and below the ear. Place metal clips horizontally around the head from ear to ear to create this line.

Step Three: Apply Aveda Smooth Infusion Gloss Straightener onto the top part of the hair for a high-gloss look.

Step Four: Working below the clip line, scrunch a cocktail of Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam ($14) mixed with Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion ($23) into hair to add texture, volume and flexible hold. Brush through.

Step Five: Still working below the clip line, wrap sections of hair around a one-inch curling iron to create ringlets. Set waves using a diffuser.

Step Six: Use fingers to loosen curls. Spray waves throughout with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray to enhance thickness, texture and shine. For textured hair, apply Aveda Sun Care Protective Hair Veil ($26) for shine and gloss without added thickness.

Step Seven: Spray Aveda Sun Care Protective Hair Veil over entire head to minimize flyaways and add shine.

Step Eight: Create a high-gloss finish by spraying Aveda Brilliant Medium Hold Hair Spray ($14) above the clip line.

Step Nine: Remove clips and set the look with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray ($24) for light hold.
